2022 Toyota Corolla Cross: An affordable mid-size SUV

In the intense American crossover sales battle, the 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross seems set to take on mini-SUVs. Under the hood is a 169-hp four-cylinder engine that can be connected to either front- or all-wheel drive; a hybrid powertrain will be added to the selection for the 2023 model. The Toyota SUV range includes the Corolla Cross.

The inside is primarily influenced by the Corolla and Corolla Hatchback models, but with significantly larger luggage room and, obviously, a higher driving position in the Cross.

2022 Toyota Corolla Performance

All Corolla Cross versions will have a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 169 horsepower and a continuously variable automatic gearbox; front-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is optional. The acceleration was sluggish in the real-world test, and the engine sounded buzzy, especially at high rpm. The all-wheel-drive test car took 9.2 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph. The ride of the Corolla Cross, on the other hand, is pleasant, so purchasers seeking comfort will be happy.

Interior

2022 Toyota Corolla Cross

The interior materials, dashboard arrangement, and convenience features are substantially identical to the four-door variant. The wider proportions of the Corolla Cross, on the other hand, provide greater space for passengers–particularly in the rear seat–and goods. The XLE variant has nice-looking faux-leather upholstery, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped shift knob, and a flip-down center armrest for rear-seat passengers.

2022 Corolla Infotainment

A square infotainment display flanked by shortcut buttons grows from the dashboard of the Corolla Cross. This configuration may be seen in a number of contemporary Toyota vehicles with 7.0- and 8.0-inch monitors. The Corolla Cross uses the latest version of Toyota’s infotainment system, which isn’t very advanced but is easy to use. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM satellite radio will all be standard features, while wireless smartphone charging, rear-seat USB charging outlets, and a JBL audio system will be available as options.
