2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Specs, Price, MPG & Features
The 2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid is much more fuel-efficient than the non-hybrid Highlander, but having somewhat less horsepower. The Toyota Highlander Hybrid’s hybrid engine makes it very fuel-efficient for its size, both in the city and on the highway. The Highlander Hybrid is a midsize family SUV that sacrifices nothing in terms of economy for the additional capacity and seating it offers. In addition to the excellent fuel efficiency, it also offers quite swift acceleration. The only significant change to this Toyota SUV for the 2022 model year is the addition of a beautiful Bronze Edition. It is basically a cosmetic package for the XLE trim, with distinctive bronze highlights inside and out, as well as 18-inch wheels.

Engine and Transmission
A 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine and an electric motor combine to propel the Toyota Highlander Hybrid. The base drivetrain is front-wheel drive, and the optional AWD system adds a second electric motor for the back wheels, although it has no effect on the SUV’s horsepower or torque output. In comparison to its most immediate competitor, the Ford Explorer Hybrid, the Highlander Hybrid is less powerful but far more fuel-efficient. Unsurprisingly, the Highlander Hybrid’s fuel efficiency ratings are exceptional for a big, three-row SUV. The performance is acceptable for regular driving, but it is not exceptional. The Highlander Hybrid can pull up to 3,500 pounds maximum.
Interior & Comfort
The Toyota Highlander’s interior is stylish and comfy. Although it is not quite “luxury” in the lower trims, the inside materials are of great quality throughout the whole model lineup. In the highest grades, luxuries like as leather seats, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, and a panoramic sunroof are included. The sitting in the first two rows is spacious and pleasant, however the third row is tight. However, if you sometimes want the third row, these extra seats are useful. Choose the optional second-row captain’s chairs rather than the regular bench seat for easy access.
When all three rows of seats are in place, the Highlander Hybrid’s cargo capacity is adequate, but when the third-row seats are folded down, it becomes enormous. The more seats that can be folded down, the more cargo room is available. With the second- and third-row seats folding, the Highlander Hybrid’s cargo compartment measures an enormous 84.3 cubic feet.
