2022 Lexus IS Specs, Price, MPG & Key Features
Last updated on July 19th, 2024 at 04:25 am
The 2022 Lexus IS looks like a compact sports sedan with its sharp lines and high-end interior. There are three engines to choose from: a turbo four-cylinder, a V-6, or a V-8. The V-6 and V-8 come with F Sport styling and chassis upgrades. Despite how it looks, the IS has a smooth ride, but drivers who want sharp handling may find it too soft. Competitors like the Audi A4, BMW 3-series, and Genesis G70 are more fun to drive and have more lively engines. Still, the IS is a well-rounded entry-level luxury car with good looks and nice features that should make it popular with buyers who want a car that looks good from the outside.

Engine and Performance
The 2022 IS has three engine options: a 241-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the IS300, a 311-hp V-6 in the IS350, and now a 472hp V-8 in the IS500 F Sport Performance. If you order the IS with the V-6 engine, it really shines and you can get the F Sport package, which includes a limited-slip rear differential, staggered 19-inch wheels, and an optional adaptive suspension, among other performance upgrades. When tested, a rear-wheel-drive IS350 F Sport went from 0 to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds, which is average for this class of fast cars. Trying to find the best IS? Consider the IS500 model, which has a V-8 engine. At the test track, it went from 0 to 60 mph in an impressive 4.3 seconds.
Interior & Comfort
Even though it’s not as big or fancy as Lexus’s flagship LS sedan, the compact IS is still a high-end car. Standard features include power front seats, automatic climate control with two zones, and push-button start. A power sunroof and leather upholstery can be added for an extra cost. Lexus didn’t make many changes to the interior of the IS when it was redesigned for the 2021 model year. However, a keen eye will notice that the cupholders have been moved, the air vents near the door panels are now round, and the infotainment system has been moved closer to the edge of the dashboard.
Infotainment and Connectivity
The standard infotainment system has a touchscreen and a touchpad on the centre console. An optional 10.3-inch display with in-dash navigation is also available. With either system, you can use Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa. As in the last generation of IS, you can get a Mark Levinson premium stereo system as an option. This time, it has 17 speakers and 1800 watts of power, just like in the last generation.

Safety and Driver Assistance Features
Lexus still comes with a set of driver-assistance features on all IS models as standard. Key features include:
- Standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection
