Lexus has returned to a more conservative aesthetic for this decade after a more striking look was introduced in the early 2010s. The Lexus NX will follow suit in 2024, following in the IS’s footsteps. To me, it’s impossible to fathom this cautious attitude, given how much better the NX is than the car it replaces. It doesn’t seem that way.

With increased power, torque, and efficiency, 2024 NX 350 offers more robust active safety features, a more modern interior, and a slew of more intelligent technologies. As impressive as this improvement is, it doesn’t change that the RX 350 is still an excellent middle-of-the-road vehicle.

The new 2024 NX is more of a challenge to Audi Q3, BMW X1, and Mercedes-Benz GLA-class compact luxury SUVs than its predecessor was. The 2024 model has an entirely new design, with LED headlights and a wind-screen with a more extreme rake than the previous generation’s. Toyota’s RAV4 shares its chassis & powertrains with Lexus, but the NX resembles the smaller UX crossover, although higher and broader. Lexus has two gasoline-powered engines & two hybrids, one of that is a plug-in hybrid for the 2024 Luxus NX model year.

What is New in the 2024 Lexus NX?

Everything, beginning with the form, has a bearing on the quality of the finished product. Although the design of the 2024 NX does not deviate from the previous version’s creases and slashes, it has been emphasized in new and exciting ways. The sculpting surrounding the headlights & taillights becomes more apparent as the hourglass grille drops lower and flares broader.

Thanks to the car’s opulent technical flourish, Lexus’ new touchscreen interface is the show’s star. A base 9.8-inch touchscreen can be upgraded to a gigantic 14.0-inch display on a flag of contrast-colored trim in the NX’s dash, which is wrapped and molded around the dashboard. 2024 Lexus NX Interior

Virtual and tactile controls for the temperature system may be used with the standard 9.8-inch touchscreen. You’ll note the large center display oriented toward the driver on entering the interior. This is a whole new approach compared to previous Lexus cars, which often have a large central collection situated distant from the operator and operated by a touchscreen.

One hasn’t even had a chance to test this technology yet. Still, they’re crossing our fingers that the new screen will be available throughout the Lexus range. With its display screen and touchpad, we found the last NX to be a distraction when driving.

2024 Lexus NX Exterior

The 2024 Lexus NX’s design has undergone a few minor tweaks, but the result is a more visually appealing car. In addition to its bold design, the NX’s modest yet appealing exterior earned it a 7 out of 10.

The imposing spindle grille is only the beginning of Lexus’ striking design. It’s a little too high, but this time it looks better. Origami-like character lines adorn the sides, and the tire flares are visible. A full-width light connects the taillights at the back. The lower rear bumper, rocker panels, and grille of F Sport versions are all darker.

This is a visually stimulating space with 64-color ambient lighting and a wide range of well-chosen materials. The significant modification on the inside is a giant touchscreen that sits right in front of the driver’s eyesight. To provide the impression of a more driver-centric design, it is housed in a bezel that rises from the digital instrument panel and seamlessly blends with the center console. We don’t like the appearance of this, but it’s worthwhile.

Mechanics, Engine, and Transmission of the 2024 Lexus NX

Unlike the preceding generation, the 2024 Lexus NX offers four powertrain choices, with only two options. The NX250 has a 203-hp & 2.5-liter four-cyl engine, while the NX350’s is a 275-hp turbo 2.4-liter. Neither the NX250 nor the NX350 has a manual transmission, although both normally come with an all-wheel drive.

Beginning with the NX350h, which syndicates two electronic motors with a 2.5-liter four-cyl engine with 239 horsepower, there are two hybrid replacements available. The RAV4 Prime’s 302-horsepower plug-in hybrid engine can be found in the top-specs NX450h. In both hybrids, all-wheel drive is included as standard equipment. After a quick 6.6-second sprint from 0-60 mph in the mid-range NX350, the first driving experience was positive. A compliant ride and a few back highway thrills were all we got out of the NX’s handling, but it didn’t entirely wow us with its abilities.

The adjustable suspension system in the F Sport version helps tighten up the ride and provides a little more composure. However, the NX still falls short of the X1 when conquering tricky asphalt.

Real-World MPG (Miles Per Gallon)

The EPA has not yet provided ratings for the 2022 NX’s fuel efficiency. Our 75-mph expressway fuel efficiency test route hasn’t even seen the updated SUV yet. The EPA is yet to weigh in on Lexus’ claim that the plug-in NX450h will deliver up to 36 miles of battery-powered driving on a single charge. Cargo and Comfort of the 2024 Lexus NX

The cabin design has a more contemporary style and classier materials with the new Lexus NX. A panorama sunroof, heated back seats, ambient interior lighting with 64 color options, and black open-top trim are all available options. The new model’s luggage capacity is somewhat less generous than that of the outgoing model. Still, the new model provides slightly more passenger room in the back seat than the outgoing one.

Connectivity and Entertainment

There is a touchscreen display on every NX model; the basic model has a 9.8-inch screen, while the most expensive ones have a 14.0-inch screen. An optional wireless smartphone charger and head-up display are also available. In addition to the base 10-speaker audio system, which comes with a trial version of Amazon Music, there is an option for a 17-speaker Marks Levinson sound system on vehicles with the Premium and Luxury packages.

The IIHS awarded the NX a Top Safety Pick+, the highest possible rating, for its overall safety performance. In addition to the TSP+ designation, the vehicle also receives credit for having standard solid safety features and a wide range of optional driver-assist technologies available. As of this writing, the NHTSA has not yet crashed it.

Autonomous emergency braking, active lane management, road sign recognition, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection, and steering assist are standards on the 2024 Lexus NX. The 2024 Lexus NX’s top speed

That varies on the specific model. The front-wheel-drive takes 8.2 seconds to reach 60 mph, while all-wheel drive takes 8.6 seconds, both of which are too long for a car with this much power. According to Lexus, the NX 450h+ connector hybrid reduces that time to 6.0 seconds.

Like the Toyota RAV4 Prime’s powertrain, the NX 450h has a 2.5-liter four-cyl engine with a front-mounted electric motor and a rear-mounted electric motor to provide 302 horsepower. When the engine fires up, it delivers a burst of power and torque. This vehicle has good highway passing ability, but it loses steam at faster speeds. While it has a 37-mile electric range, the 18.1-kWh lithium-ion rechargeable battery loses control of the gasoline engine when the driver goes hard into the accelerator or travels at high speeds. Standard on-board chargers are 3.3 kilowatts, but owners can purchase 6.6-kilowatt chargers, reducing charging time by almost half.

The electric motor provides an extra burst of acceleration at low speeds that assists the 2.5-liter 4-cyl engine in the 239-hp NX 350h hybrid. The 2.4-liter turbo-4 in the 275-hp NX 350 provides the most significant driving experience, powerful acceleration, and passing ability.
