2022 Honda Passport: A Great Midsize Compact SUV

The 2022 Honda Passport is quite practical, with enough of luggage capacity and passenger amenities. Those who want more than two rows of seats should choose the three-row Honda Pilot, the Passport’s first cousin, although the Passport is generally quite capable. From adaptive cruise control to lane-keeping assist, all models boast a variety of driver-assistance features. The only source of power is a powerful V-6 engine that isn’t very fuel-efficient but delivers smooth acceleration. While driving is never thrilling, and the trip can be unpleasant at times, the 2022 Passport is a most gratifying and hassle-free means of transporting families and all their belongings.

2022 Honda Passport Engine and Performance

The 280-hp 3.5-liter V-6 engine and nine-speed automated transmission are shared with the Pilot. All-wheel drive is optional for those who prefer all-terrain capability; otherwise, the Passport has front-wheel drive. The SUV has a ground clearance of 7.5 inches (8.1 inches for all-wheel-drive variants), and it can tow up to 5000 pounds. When the two-row Honda does drive off-road, though, it has a bumpy ride, and its high ride height contributes to a top-heavy personality.

Interior and comfort

Anyone who has seen the inside of a Ridgeline will immediately recognise the Passport’s cabin. Despite the plain look, the materials are appealing, and the controls are well-organized—though knobs are preferred and buttons rather than touchscreen controls. The front seats are spacious and comfy, with an adjustable armrest for maximum comfort. The Passport’s back seat is likewise spacious, accommodating up to five passengers. Behind the back seat is 41 cubic feet of storage space, which housed 15 of our carry-on luggage. By folding that row, you get 78 cubic feet of storage space and the ability to carry 33 bags in total. The cabin’s interior cubby storage is excellent, due to several convenient containers.

The Passport has two separate estimations due to its single-engine option and front- or all-wheel drive. A Passport with all-wheel drive does somewhat worse, with 19 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the interstate.
